![]() In a world of countless galleries, it is nice to find a place where works of a myriad of artists are combined under one roof, with rooms filled with photographs and artworks. We have found one such location in the pixelmuseum. We interviewed the caretaker vengas. (translated from german) what is the pixel museum? pixel museum is a virtual online museum with over one hundred artists from around the world. at the moment the museum is composed out of 37 rooms with each 3 artists who present 3 of their own "artworks". what exactly is being displayed? the pixel museum is divided into 4 differant sections. there is the "photography - section" with world famous photographerse or the "digital art - section", where likewise well-known artist present their digital arts. many of our digital artists possess a good reputation online and we are proud to be able to show their works in our museum. in the "pixel art - section", artists are displayed who have a certain affinity with pixels. anyone who doesn't know what pixel art is should take a look at eboy.com or ala, both very good examples for pixel art. in the last section, the so-called "special section", amateur works are displayed to a certain theme (for example, sky or numbers). i thought that this section would grow quickly, but surprisingly enough it is still underused. how did you originally get the idea for pixel museum? we had the task to create a website as a project for our school (multimedia producer sae). i had the idea of a museum for a long time. i had a smaller version under vengas.com. this museum had only one "floor", however, so i let the museum grow with additional "sections" and more "floors" to the current pixel museum. what does the museum mean to you? i have gained many interesting and friendly contacts throughout this pretty world through the museum. although, seen soberly, the museum exists only out of a few bits and bytes. what goal does the pixel museum have? besides the fact that the museum should grow a bit more, it has no specific goal. as long as makes visitors happy, i'll continue to work on it.
what feedback have you already recieved? on the one hand, i always read positive comments in the guest book, on the other i also recieve feedback through the online form, all very nice and friendly. tell us something about the creator of pixelmuseum. hmmm... well, i am in the early 30s and i work as multimedia producer, as well as a freelance photographer, and live with my girlfriend in winterthur, switzerland. on which other projects have you worked on? i have been able to create several websites (around 12), as well as 5 cd rom projects. another website, on which i regular work on is vengas, where i present my photos and sell them. what are your plans for the future? i am working on a new version of the museum, but i can not say when that will appear. i have grounded a multimedia lab with a few friends and want it to work out successfully. photography will also certainly take much of my time in the future. |
