A quest to reunite the estranged members of the retrochoirpop band The Polyphonic Spree across desert, forest, and waterscapes - another flash game masterpiece by Amanita Design. We have asked Jakub Dvorský a few short questions about his new flash game and game creation in general. You may wish to read the previous interview beforehand.


What is "The Quest for the Rest"?

The Quest For The Rest is short and easy flash game which act as part of the promotional campaign for new album of US band The Polyphonic Spree.


How much of the game concept of Quest for the Rest was assigned, and how much of it was based of your own ideas and concepts?

I had to use characters from the band and also i had to create desert, forest, ocean and final sections. Everything else was up to me.


What was the greatest difficulty in creating Samorost and Quest for the Rest?

Maybe Flash ActionScript is the most difficult part for me - i'm not good at it :)


How long does it take to make the entire game from planning stage to the finished product?

Two months.


What kind of games do you like to play?

I don't play games anymore (except some flash games), but i used to like strategy and adventure games.


Have you been inspired by any computer adventure games such as the Gobliiin series?

Not directly, but Gobliins and some other older games definately influenced me.


What are your personal artistic influences?

There are many, from prehistoric paintings to contemporary art.


How would you describe the Czech media scene?

Uf, it's difficult. Here is really lot of talented people, but most of them haven't any works displayed on the internet, but this is quickly improving...


Are you planning on making more adventure games for other people?

Sure. :-)


If you couldn't create Flash games, what would you be doing instead?

Probably graphic design and illustrations or who knows, maybe I would be a greengrocer.
